Every request a thunk handles becomes a work item — one run of the workflow, with its own inputs, outputs, and status. The Work Items list is where you see all of them in one place, open any one to follow its progress, and act on many of them at once.
For what the columns in this list represent and why their definitions matter to the AI agent, see Schematized State. If you only want the work that needs you, use Waiting on me instead.
Open the list
Open your thunk.
In the left navigation, under Run, select Work Items.
The list opens as a table. Each work item is one line, and each column is one property of the workflow — its inputs, the outputs each step fills in, and built-in columns such as Name and Status. The AI Task column shows what the current step's AI agent is doing right now; see What Working, Waiting, and Waiting for tool mean.
To open a work item, select it in the list. You see its values and its steps, and you can follow or act on the step it is on.
Switch between views
The list opens in Table view. If your workflow has a file or image property, a Grid view is also offered, which shows each work item as a card. Use the view buttons next to the list to switch.
Filter the list
Choose Filter items (the filter icon) to add conditions — for example, only work items with a given Status, or only those with a particular value in one column. You can also start a filter from the menu on most column headers (the three vertical dots).
The other list actions — download, delete, and run a workflow step — act on the work items in the current filtered view, so filter first when you want to act on just some of them.
To keep a filter you use often, save it as a report. See How to save a report from your work items.
Add work items
Choose Add, then pick how to add them:
Add one item using a form — fill in the workflow's inputs for a single new work item.
Add many items using bulk load — create several work items at once from uploaded files, a spreadsheet, or the files in a cloud folder. Which of these you are offered depends on your workflow's inputs.
Add items using AI — describe in your own words what to add, and the AI agent creates the work items.
Work items can also arrive on their own from outside Thunk.AI — by email, a webhook, a shared form, or the REST API. See Inbound Requests.
Change the columns
Move the mouse over a column header and open its menu. Choose Column properties to see and change the definition of that property, Add column to add a new property, or Delete column to remove one. Built-in columns such as Name and Status cannot be deleted.
Act on many work items at once
These controls are icons next to Add. Hover over one to see its name, which includes how many work items it will act on — check that count before you go ahead.
Download … selected items (the download icon) saves the work items in the current view as a CSV file.
Delete … items (the trash icon) deletes every work item in the current view, not just the ones on screen. You are asked to confirm first.
Run a workflow step across … items (the rocket icon) opens a dialog of actions to run on the work items in view. Depending on your workflow, the choices include:
Start Draft items — start work items that are still in Draft status.
Re-run a workflow step — pick a step and run it again, for example to re-test an instruction change across a batch. See Manual Testing.
Trigger a scheduled workflow step — fire a scheduled step now instead of waiting for its schedule.
Run an AI column — recompute one AI-generated property across the work items, without re-running the whole step.
The AI agent does not work on work items in Draft status, so start them first if you want them to run.
